Wind energy

videos: examples of modern onshore wind turbines (3 MW)

Wind energy together with hydro energy counts among the „cheapest“ technology applications progress and innovation have made accessible regions which have been formerly not economic viable due to lower wind resources. Today, due to higher hub heights and accordingly higher wind velocities many communities recognize their chance to use their local wind resources to enable their citizen to participate through energy association models. Wind power plants are using little land for permanent purposes whereas the space between the turbines can still be used for farming or forestry.

First steps in wind power site development are to identify suitable areas and site securing. Further selection is done by detecting the best wind resources on areas of legally binding premises and a low conflict potential, which can be evaluated together with several wind turbine power curves.
